Planking is progressing, once I have the nose retract and strut installed it will take a couple days to finish planking the bottom.  Then the sanding begins....

You can see in this photo sans the pins you can get an idea of how large the flap will be.

The ends of the nacelles with random bits of planking hanging over the edge was driving me batty.  Today I fabricated a wood disc with sandpaper on one side and a hole to slip on the motor shaft.  After mounting a motor in each nacelle I slipped the disc on to the shaft and a few minutes  of rotating I had the nacelle nose cleaned up.

Also I stripped sheets of 1/16ā€ balsa into 5/8ā€ wide strips then soaked in ammonia water to soften them for bending.

6 at a time were stacked on top of each other, once they dry out they will hold the curve and be easy to glue on then the laminations will be sanded down to the fine trailing edge of the Moonbat.

This morning we pulled the canopy off the plug and roughly trimmed to fit, with it setting on the fuselage we can start to see the big picture.

After lunch I started to fair the trailing edge laminations. When both sides are sanded Iā€™m hoping the trailing edge line will hold true - if not things will get fussy!
